Senator Alli distributes seedlings to farmers in Oyo South to boost food security

As part of his commitment to agricultural development, food sufficiency and poverty eradication, Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has distributed a variety of seedlings to farmers across four local government areas in Oyo South Senatorial District.

This was contained in a statement issued by his Media Office and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan.

The distribution exercise, which took place in Eruwa ahead of the upcoming farming season, featured the supply of improved seedlings including maize, beans, tomatoes and yam aimed at boosting productivity among local farmers.

The initiative benefited farmers in Ido, Ibarapa East, Ibarapa Central, and Ibarapa North Local Government Areas.

Representatives of the Senator, Mr. Ayo Adedokun and Mr. Gbenga Elegbede, led the exercise, reiterating Senator Alli’s unwavering commitment to grassroots empowerment and sustainable agricultural practices.

They noted that the gesture was one of many interventions planned by the Senator to support the farming community and enhance food security in the state.

Elder Dayo Adeola, an APC leader in the Ibarapa zone and a member of the Ibarapa APC G-9, commended Senator Alli for consistently delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituents.

He praised the Senator as a unique representative who remains in regular touch with the people, unlike some of his predecessors.

Leaders from the four benefiting local government areas described the initiative as timely and impactful.

Alhaji Jimoh Luqmon appreciated the Senator for remembering rural farmers, noting that the seedlings would significantly reduce their cost of production.

Mr. Jimoh Azeez expressed optimism that the improved inputs would lead to better yields, while Mr. Oluwaseun Alabi said the support would enhance food supply and boost income generation.

The intervention aligned with Senator Alli’s broader legislative agenda to empower constituents and improve livelihoods through strategic agricultural and economic support.

The event was attended by several community leaders, including Apostle S.A. Aderounmu, Chief T.A.A. Adenrele, Chief Francis Babalola, and many others from Ibarapa and Ido areas of the Senatorial District.
