Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, well known as Portable, has stirred conversation online following his recent remarks about Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie’s noticeable weight loss.
Recall that last month, fans of the popular actress expressed concern over her slimmer appearance after she posted a promotional video for her slim tea brand on Instagram. The video, which featured the mother of four showcasing her new figure, sparked mixed reactions, with many fans flooding her comment section with questions and expressions of worry.
Adding his voice to the trending topic, Portable, in a video circulating online, claimed that Mercy Johnson’s husband might have influenced her decision to lose weight. According to the singer, the motivation behind her transformation could be to avoid attracting unwanted attention from other men.
“Mercy Johnson’s husband probably told her to go and lose weight so she would stop receiving attention from men, that’s why she reduced a lot,” Portable said in the video. He also admitted that he initially believed the actress had undergone a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) but later realised her body was natural.
His comments have since sparked a flurry of reactions on social media, with many netizens debating the appropriateness of his assumptions and the broader conversation around body image, personal choice, and public scrutiny.
As of the time of this report, Mercy Johnson has not publicly responded to Portable’s remarks.
