Nollywood actress Wumi Toriola has made a soft retreat after receiving heavy criticism over her recent outburst at senior colleague, Afeez Owo, the husband of actress Mide Martins.
The drama began after Afeez, in an interview, described Wumi as someone who only reacts when provoked, noting that she does not tolerate nonsense. His remark, however, did not sit well with Wumi, who fired back, mocking him and questioning if she should “rent a husband to hold the mic and spoil things.” She also urged him, as an elder, to stop the drama, while maintaining that despite his “unfortunate behaviours,” she still respects him.
The statement sparked backlash, with many accusing her of disrespect. In response, Wumi shared a video of herself on a plane, captioned “the face of a repentant child,” appreciating her critics for correcting her.
“It is still all love. Thank you all for the backlash. Omo ta ba fe lan bawi,” she wrote
This is not the first time Wumi and Afeez have clashed publicly. In 2023, Afeez and his wife Mide Martins apologized to Wumi over an editing error in one of their movies, which had subjected her to ridicule.
Wumi, known for her outspoken nature, has in recent times spoken about personal growth. Just last month, she responded to a playful shade from singer Adekunle Gold, insisting she had “repented” since the beginning of the year and now identifies as a “gentle lady.”
Despite past criticisms from fans over her frequent feuds with colleagues, the actress maintains that she walks her own path unapologetically, focusing on growth forged through life’s struggles
