THANKSGIVING SERVICE: OYO NAWOJ BEGINS WEEK

The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Oyo State Chapter, has commenced its Week activities with a heartfelt thanksgiving service held at Oritamefa Baptist Church, Ibadan.

NAWOJ Members across the state gathered to express gratitude for blessings throughout the year and to seek guidance for the week ahead.

NAWOJIANS adorned in colorful uniforms and joined by the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Oyo State Council, Comrade Ademola Babalola, filled the church with joy, showcasing their dancing skills.

Delivering a sermon titled “When God Decides to Transform a Home,” Guest Minister Rev’d Mike Babatunde drew his message from 1 Peter 3:1-7, explaining that God often begins His transformative work through the woman, using her as a starting point for broader change within the family.

In his address, the church Pastor, Rev’d Diran Adeleke, commended the female journalists for beginning their week by returning to God in gratitude.

Rev’d Mike Babatunde also led a special prayer for the women.
In their respective remarks, the NUJ State Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola, and Chairperson of NAWOJ, Oyo State Chapter, Mrs. Omolola Alamu, encouraged upcoming female journalists to remain steadfast and uphold the ethics of journalism.
The thanksgiving service was also attended by members of the NUJ Oyo State Council executive members

The week’s activities are expected to feature a lecture to be delivered by renowned Editor and former commissioner for Information in Osun State, Funke Egbemode, an awards presentation, a Jumat service, and a get-together.

The service also had in attendance former NAWOJ chairperson in the state, Comrade Kiitan Adeagbo and former Executive Director of FRCN, Mrs Bolatito Joseph.
