“There was no prove that he slept with the girl” – Yomi Fabiyi gives update on Baba Ijesha’s case

Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has given an update on embattled Yoruba actor Baba Ijesha’s case.

To refresh your memory, Baba Ijesha was arrested and sentenced to 5 years imprisonment for raping a minor, who is the adopted daughter of comedian Princess.

Giving an update on the case in a recent interview, he said Baba Ijesha’s appeal process is still ongoing in court. He claimed that there was no evidence that he slept with the hole; hence, the judge didn’t sentence him to life imprisonment.

Yomi stated that Princess called Baba Ijesha to shoot a skit, and the girl also made a similar statement in court. Yomi stated that the man who slept with the girl was walking freely, and her age wasn’t 14, as many claimed.

“Baba Ijesha’s appeal process is still ongoing in court. There was no evidence that he slept with the girl; that was why the judge didn’t sentence him to life imprisonment. He was called by Princess to shoot a skit, and the girl also said in court that she was called to shoot a skit.

The person who actually slept with the girl is walking freely. The girl’s age is not 14. They never gave the court her birth certificate. We are waiting for the appeal court judgement”.

Recall that in 2022, Baba Ijesha had bagged 5 years imprisonment for raping comedienne, Princess’s 14 years old daughter.

Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in a two-hour judgement, convicted Baba Ijesha of indecent treatment of a child, sexual assault and attempted sexual assault. Taiwo, however, discharged and acquitted him of counts one and count six.

He was thereby sentenced to 16 years imprisonment but would face only 5 years consecutively.

Speaking out, Yomi Fabiyi, who was present in the courtroom, clamoured for the actor to have a right to appeal. He stated that Baba Ijesha still had ample opportunities to challenge the court’s ruling until he had exhausted all his limits.

He also demanded for Princess to be punished for parental negligence.

In October of 2022, Yomi Fabiyi celebrated the embattled actor’s birthday. He took to his Instagram page to share a photo of the embattled actor accompanied by a heartwarming caption and a powerful prayer.
