A student of the Yobe State University (YSU) Damaturu, Maryam Lawan Goroma, has passed away shortly after writing an examination.
Maryam, who was studying Chemistry in the varsity, reportedly slumped on Thursday evening, April 27, and was rushed to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.
A classmate of the deceased, Bukar Maisandari, who confirmed the tragic incident on Facebook, said Maryam was in good health prior to her death.
“Innaa Lillaahi Wa Innaa Ilaihir Raaji’uun. I received with a heavy heart the news of the sudden death of our classmate Maryam Lawan Goroma. She was healthy and hearty until today afternoon when she suddenly collapsed and was confirmed death shortly. May Almighty Allah forgive her shortcomings. May Al-Jannah Firdausi be her final abode. My deepest sympathy to her family & friends and to all my Chemical Colleagues. May Allah give you comfort to bear this loss. Ameen,” he wrote.
However, a friend identified as Abubakar Zaid, said she complained of stomach ache during the exam.
Maryam will be laid to rest today, April 28, at her family home in Sabon Fegi, Damaturu, Yobe state capital.
Her friends and family have take to social media to mourn her sudden death.
