Rotary Clubs Transforms Healthcare Access In Oyo State

The Rotary Family Health Days (RFHD) initiative has successfully improved healthcare access for thousands of residents in Oyo State through a comprehensive medical outreach programmes.

This year’s event,endorse by the Oyo State Primary Healthcare Board and held across multiple Primary Healthcare (PHC) centers, focused on critical health services and community engagement.

The outreach took place at Ido PHC in Ido LGA, Odo Ona Kekere PHC in Oluyole LGA, Ajorosun LCDA PHC in Egbeda LGA, and at the C&S Church, Isale Osun in Iware town, located in Afijio LGA.

Partnerships with Planned Parenthood and Family Planning of Nigeria (PPFN) enabled the provision of essential services, including family planning consultations, breast cancer screenings, cervical cancer screenings, and prostate cancer screenings for men over 40 years of age.

According to Rotn Abiola Ogunbanwo, the Zonal Coordinator for the event, over 3,000 residents were screened for various health conditions.

All services and medications were provided free of charge, showcasing the Rotary’s commitment to enhancing community health.

Numerous Rotary clubs participated in the initiative, including RC Ibadan Ring Road, RC Ibadan Jericho Metro, RC Oluyole Estate at Odo Ona Kekere and RC Iyaganku,RC Ibadan -Ologuneru,RC Ibadan -Prestige, RC Ibadan- Aleshiloye,RC Ibadan -Challenge at Ido PHC centers respectively.

In the Iware community, support came from RC Oyo Metro, RC Ibadan-Akobo, and RC Ibadan-Gold. At the Ajorosun LCDA PHC in Egbeda LGA, clubs such as RC Ibadan West, RC Ibadan-Oritamefa, and RC Ibadan Pathfinder contributed to the efforts.

He noted that he RFHD initiative highlighted the importance of collaboration in improving healthcare access and raising awareness about vital health issues.

“By providing essential health services and fostering community engagement, the Rotary clubs are making a lasting impact on the quality of life for residents in Oyo State,” he stressed.
