New NYSC Oyo Coordinator Assumes Office as Odoba Bows Out Gracefully

A new chapter has begun in the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Oyo State, as Mr. Kayode Ola Peters officially assumed duties as the new State Coordinator, succeeding Comrade Odoba Abel Oche, who has completed his tenure.

The formal handover ceremony, held at the NYSC Secretariat in Ibadan, was marked with heartfelt tributes and expressions of appreciation. In his valedictory remarks, Comrade Odoba expressed deep gratitude to God for a successful tenure and thanked the NYSC management for the opportunity to serve as the 21st State Coordinator.

Odoba also acknowledged the unwavering support of the Oyo State Government under Governor Seyi Makinde, alongside other key stakeholders whose contributions, he said, played a vital role in the achievements recorded during his administration.

He extended his appreciation to the staff of the NYSC in Oyo for their dedication and cooperation, which he credited as central to the progress made under his leadership. He urged them to uphold unity and professionalism and to give their full support to the incoming coordinator.

Describing Mr. Peters as a “perfect gentleman,” Odoba called on the staff to extend even greater support to his successor to enable him build on the gains of the outgoing administration.

In his inaugural address, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters thanked the NYSC leadership, particularly the Director General, Brig. Gen. OO Nafiu, for the trust reposed in him. He also commended Comrade Odoba for steering the Oyo Secretariat to national prominence.

Mr. Peters pledged to sustain the legacy of excellence left by his predecessor, assuring staff of an inclusive leadership style. “I will operate an open-door policy and encourage suggestions that will enhance our collective success,” he stated.

He further appealed to staff for cooperation and commitment, emphasizing that the success of the administration would be a shared victory for the entire Secretariat.

The ceremony featured a presentation of the official handover note and the gifting of awards, commendation letters, and souvenirs to Comrade Odoba by friends and well-wishers in recognition of his service and impact.

Members of staff took turns to praise Odoba’s visionary leadership and welfare-driven initiatives, describing his tenure as inspirational and transformative for the NYSC in Oyo State.
