Oyo Extends Tax Filing Deadline to April 15, Urges Residents to Comply.

The Oyo State Internal Revenue Service (OYIRS) has announced an extension of the tax filing deadline to April 15, 2026, giving taxpayers additional time to fulfill their statutory obligations.

In a public notice issued by the agency, the extension applies to all taxpayers, including employees, business owners, and self-employed individuals across the state.

The agency described the extension as a final opportunity for residents to file accurate and complete tax returns, warning that failure to comply before the new deadline would attract penalties, interest, and possible enforcement actions.

OYIRS urged taxpayers to take advantage of the window to declare all sources of income and ensure proper filing through its official self-service portal.

The notice emphasized that timely tax compliance is both a civic responsibility and an opportunity, encouraging residents to avoid errors, incomplete submissions, and sanctions associated with non-compliance.

Taxpayers seeking assistance were advised to contact the agency through its designated helplines or email support channels.

The revenue service reiterated its commitment to improving tax administration in the state while calling on residents to cooperate in strengthening the state’s revenue base.
