The Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, on Friday hosted a delegation of former councilors at the council secretariat in Moniya, Ibadan, to consolidate political alignments ahead of the upcoming general elections.
The delegation comprised former lawmakers who served under the administration of the immediate past Chairman, the late Hon. Taoreed Adedigba Jimoh. Led by Hon. Adeleke Olufemi Micheal, the former councilors used the solidarity visit to declare their unwavering loyalty to the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and pass a vote of confidence on Hon. Akinleye’s administration.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Hon. Micheal stated that the former councilors are united in their resolve to work for the total victory of all APM candidates. He noted that their decision was motivated by Hon. Akinleye’s inclusive governance style, grassroots development initiatives, and commitment to the welfare of the people, which have earned widespread admiration from local stakeholders.
Responding, Hon. Akinleye expressed gratitude for the solidarity visit and the formal endorsement. He assured the visitors that his administration will maintain an open-door policy, emphasizing that his leadership philosophy hinges on consultation, inclusiveness, and collective progress.
The council boss stated that he remains committed to emulating the exemplary governance model of the Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, by prioritizing unity and sustainable development at the local level.
Hon. Akinleye further stressed that the current political landscape demands absolute unity of purpose from all progressives. He urged party leaders, members, and residents of Akinyele Local Government to collapse previous political divisions and work toward a common goal. He expressed confidence that with the backing of key stakeholders like the former councilors, the APM is positioned to secure resounding electoral victories across the local government and the state.
