Akinyele Local Government has been thrown into mourning following the death of a foremost religious and community leader, Alhaji Wahab Olayiwola Surulagba, who passed away in the early hours of today. His death has been received with deep sadness across the Local Government, as he was widely regarded as a respected elder, community builder and religious leader whose contributions to the peace, unity and development of the people left a lasting impression.
Reacting to the painful loss, the Executive Chairman of Akinyele Local Government, Hon. Akinwole Akinleye, in a statement made available through his Chief Media Aide, Ogundipe Miracle, described the death of Alhaji Wahab Olayiwola Surulagba as an “irreparable and irreplaceable loss.”
The Chairman noted that the impact of his passing would be felt by everyone, irrespective of religious or political affiliation, describing the deceased as a father, a model and a leader to all. He commiserated with his family, loved ones, associates and the entire people of Akinyele Local Government, praying that Almighty Allah grant them the fortitude to bear the great loss.
Hon. Akinwole Akinleye also urged the younger generation to draw valuable lessons from the life, values and legacy of the late religious and community leader. He emphasized that the best way to honour the memory of a revered elder is to uphold the virtues of peace, service, humility, tolerance and community development which he exemplified during his lifetime.
He prayed that Almighty Allah forgive Alhaji Wahab Olayiwola Surulagba’s shortcomings, grant him Al-Jannah Firdaus and give his family and the entire Akinyele community the strength to navigate this difficult period of grief.
