Circular Road: We’ll address property owners’ demands, says committee set up by Govt

The committee set up by the Oyo State governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, to look into issues of corridor and setback on the Senator Rashidi Ladoja Circular Road has been inaugurated, with the committee stating that it would look into the issues before it dispassionately with a view to finding a lasting solution.

The committee, which comprises representatives of the residents of communities affected by the project, representatives of Ibadan Mogajis in the six affected local governments; chairmen of Local Government Areas affected by the project; Chairman of Local Government Chairmen in Oyo State, Hon Sikiru Oyedele Sanda and the Executive Adviser to Oyo Sate Governor on New Towns and Cities Development Authority, Mrs Mofoluke Adebiyi, was set up to look into the presentations of residents affected by the Circular Road Project.

Speaking shortly after the committee’s inaugural meeting held at the Conference Room of the New Towns and Cities Development Authority, Secretariat, Agodi, Ibadan, on Thursday, Mrs Adebiyi, stated that the committee would look into the issues surrounding the Circular Road Project and the pronouncements made by the governor.

She said: “We also want to ensure that the policies of government are properly driven home to ensure that everybody would smile at the end of the day, particularly the residents that are affected.”

Recall that Governor Makinde had, on Wednesday, engaged residents affected by the project, noting that he would set up a committee to work on the recommendations and positions of residents and the plans of the government on the ongoing 110km Senator Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja Circular Road Project.
Adebiyi added that the committee had been mandated to ensure that policies of the government on the setback and the corridor of the project are duly followed.
She assured that the committee would ensure fairness and justice for all concerned.

Speaking on behalf of the local government areas affected by the ongoing project, the Chairman of Egbeda Local Government, Hon Sikiru Oyedele Sanda, appreciated Governor Makinde for keeping to his promise to engage with the property owners and also appreciated the people of the state for their resilience during the period.

He assured the affected property owners that all issues relating to the setback and development of the circular road project corridor would be resolved, as the committee would work with the agency, Ibadan Mogajis and the representatives of the communities affected to ensure that all the critical issues are adequately addressed.

Also in his remarks, the representative of the Mogajis of the affected areas, Engr Abduljelil Adanla, said they would work with the community leaders to ensure that people affected are well-engaged.

He appealed to the residents to be calm and to continue to support the government.
Other members of the committee are the representative of the Ministry of Lands and Urban Development and the representative of the Ministry of Works and Transport, among others.
