FCT Police Arrest Kidnap Kingpins, Recover Firearms and ₦7.4m

The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has arrested two suspected kidnapping kingpins and recovered firearms alongside ₦7.4 million cash in a major breakthrough against violent crimes.

The suspects, identified as Masud Abdullahi, the alleged gang leader from Karu LGA, Nasarawa State, and Muhammad Tahir from Jos, Plateau State, were apprehended during a counter-kidnapping operation.

Their arrest followed a report received in the early hours of August 16, 2025, that a syndicate had stormed an estate in Karu, Abuja, and abducted a legal practitioner, Barrister Henry Chichi.

According to the police, operatives of the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit launched an immediate operation that mounted sustained pressure on the abductors, leading to the victim’s safe release at about 9:05 p.m. on August 17, 2025.

The Command confirmed that investigations are ongoing, assuring residents of its continued commitment to tackling kidnapping and related crimes in the FCT.
