Gov Makinde’s Aide, Titilola-Sodo, Hosts Oyo NUJ Members to Iftar*

The Special Adviser to Governor Seyi Makinde on Labour Matters, Comrade Bayo Titilola-Sodo, on has hosted the executives and members of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, to the breaking of fast (Iftar) at his residence in Ibadan.

The delegation, which comprised members of the union’s executive and other journalists, was led by the Chairman of the NUJ in Oyo State, Mr. Akeem Abas. The journalists were received warmly and treated to a variety of meals as part of the Ramadan gathering.

Welcoming the guests, Comrade Titilola-Sodo said the annual Iftar had become a tradition aimed at strengthening the bond among journalists and fostering unity within the pen-pushing profession.

He explained that the gesture was also meant to appreciate the role of journalists in promoting accountability and good governance in society.

The governor’s aide noted that the initiative, which has been sustained for five consecutive years, was borne out of his admiration for the media and recognition of the vital role journalists play in national development.

He also urged the newly elected leadership of the NUJ in the state to pursue an all-inclusive administration that would carry every member along, irrespective of differences.

According to him, unity within the union remains critical to strengthening the voice and relevance of journalists in the state and across the country.

Responding, the Chairman, NUJ, Oyo State Council Mr. Akeem Abas, commended comrade Titilola-Sodo for his consistency and commitment to the welfare and unity of journalists through the annual Ramadan gesture.

Abas described the initiative as commendable and assured that the current leadership of the council would continue to promote unity, professionalism and collective progress among members of the union.
