Governor Adeleke Dismisses Defection Rumours, Reaffirms Commitment to PDP.

Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, has debunked reports claiming he plans to dump the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 governorship election.

In a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Governor Adeleke described the rumours of his alleged alliance with ADC leaders as false and baseless.

“Our attention has been drawn to media reports and enquiries about Governor Adeleke’s purported defection to ADC or collaboration with its key figures. These claims are entirely untrue,” Rasheed stated.

He emphasized that Governor Adeleke remains a committed member of the PDP and will seek re-election on the party’s platform in 2026.

“Governor Adeleke has no alliance with ADC or any of its members. He is firmly rooted in the PDP, will contest under the PDP, and does not require any coalition to secure a landslide victory in the upcoming election,” the statement added.

Rasheed also pointed out that the PDP in Osun has already adopted President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential race, further distancing the party from any potential partnership with the ADC.

Highlighting Governor Adeleke’s track record in office, the spokesperson said the people of Osun State are solidly behind the governor due to his achievements in governance and development.

“Governor Adeleke’s ongoing performance continues to earn the trust and support of the electorate. Osun people are determined to return him to office to sustain the pace of good governance,” he said.

The governor also urged PDP members and stakeholders to remain focused on consolidating the party’s strength across all levels in preparation for another electoral victory in 2026.
