Health Guru Reveal 5 Best Sleeping Positions for a Good Night’s Rest

Getting quality sleep is vital for overall health, and Guru say the position you choose at night can greatly affect your rest, breathing, and even posture. Medical practitioners have highlighted five of the best sleeping positions that promote comfort and improve well-being.

  1. Sleeping on Your Back Supine Position
Doctors recommend lying on your back as one of the healthiest ways to sleep. It keeps the spine aligned, reduces pressure on joints, and helps prevent acid reflux when the head is slightly elevated. However, it may worsen snoring in some individuals.
  2. Side Sleeping (Especially on the Left Side)
This is the most common sleeping position. Experts note that sleeping on the left side aids digestion, eases heartburn, and promotes better blood circulation, especially for pregnant women. It also helps reduce snoring compared to lying on the back.
  3. Fetal Position
Curling up on your side with knees bent is considered comforting and beneficial for people with lower back pain. However, health experts advise not to curl too tightly, as it may restrict breathing or cause stiffness.
  4. Sleeping with a Pillow Between the Knees
For side sleepers, placing a pillow between the knees helps maintain spinal alignment, reduces pressure on the hips, and prevents lower back strain. This position is often recommended for people with arthritis or chronic pain.
  5. Elevated Sleeping (Head Raised)
Using extra pillows or an adjustable bed to slightly elevate the upper body can ease breathing difficulties, reduce snoring, and help those suffering from acid reflux
