Hijrah 1448AH: Makinde declares Tuesday work-free day, felicitates Muslims

Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, has declared Tuesday, 16 June, 2026, as a work-free day in the state in commemoration of the new Islamic Calendar Year, Hijrah 1448AH.

The governor has also congratulated the Muslim Ummah in the state and across the country on witnessing Hijrah, praying to God Almighty to grant them the opportunity to celebrate many more on earth.

According to a memo signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Musibau Babatunde, the governor enjoined all Muslims to use the occasion to pray for the peace, unity and prosperity of Oyo State in particular and Nigeria in general.

He equally charged all residents of the state to be alert and observant before, during and after the Hijrah celebrations, urging them to always report suspicious movements and activities to security agencies and through the state’s Emergency Number, 615.
