Ibadan Tragic Motor Accident: Senator Alli commiserates with victims’ families

Senator (Dr) Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli (APC-Oyo South) has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic motor accident that claimed several lives in Ibadan, describing the incident as heartbreaking and devastating.

This is contained in a statement he personally signed and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Ibadan.

No fewer than six people were reported to have been killed on Tuesday when a trailer carrying 45,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit lost control and ran over several tricycles in Ibadan, while several others sustained varying degrees of injuries.

The accident was reported to have occurred at the Fruits Market along the Oje-Beere route in Ibadan South East Local Government Area.

Senator Alli extended heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, praying for the repose of the souls of the deceased and strength for their loved ones to bear the irreparable loss.

He said the unfortunate incident was a painful reminder of the fragility of life, noting that the loss of productive and promising individuals in such circumstances was a huge setback not only to their families but also to the society at large.

The lawmaker urged relevant authorities to intensify efforts toward ensuring road safety, stressing the need for stricter enforcement of traffic regulations and routine vehicle checks to prevent avoidable tragedies on the nation’s highways.

Senator Alli also called on drivers to exercise caution, adhere strictly to traffic rules and ensure their vehicles were roadworthy before embarking on any journey.

According to him, many accidents could be prevented through responsible driving, regular vehicle maintenance and strict adherence to traffic rules.

He appealed to emergency response agencies to remain proactive and well-equipped to handle such incidents, emphasising the importance of timely intervention in reducing casualties during road mishaps.

The lawmaker prayed that God would grant the deceased eternal rest and comfort their families.

Senator Alli assured the people of Oyo State of his continued commitment to advocating for policies that would safeguard lives and improve public safety.
