Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has formally inaugurated the 2025 Batch C Orientation Course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Iseyin, charging new corps members to uphold discipline, embrace innovation, and contribute to national cohesion.
Represented by the Director of the Ministry of Youth, Alhaja Kudirat O. Mustapha, the governor commended the corps members for completing their academic pursuits and reminded them that their deployment marks an important call to national service at a critical period for Nigeria.
Mustapha described the NYSC orientation programme as a unique convergence of cultures designed to mould discipline, leadership, and teamwork. She encouraged participants to take full advantage of every activity on camp — from drills and lectures to the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) initiative — noting that the values gained would shape their impact during and beyond their service year.
The governor assured the corps members of the state’s unwavering support in welfare, security, and empowerment. He also acknowledged Nigeria’s economic and security hurdles, urging them to remain hopeful and contribute meaningfully toward solutions, stressing that the resilience of the youth remains the country’s greatest strength.
He further advised them to explore Oyo State, respect local customs, and make positive contributions to their host communities.
Earlier, the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, welcomed guests and corps members, commending their orderly conduct since arrival and expressing gratitude to Governor Makinde for his continuous investment in youth development. He reaffirmed the Scheme’s commitment to grooming responsible leaders through impactful orientation programmes.
The oath of allegiance was administered by Honourable Justice Ezekiel O. Ajayi on behalf of the Oyo State Chief Judge, Honourable Justice Iyabo Yerima, who urged the corps members to uphold the Constitution and represent the Scheme honourably.
A highlight of the event was a vibrant tug-of-war display by the Man O’ War unit, which captivated attendees and symbolised the spirit of unity promoted by the NYSC.
The ceremony was attended by the Aseyin of Iseyinland, Oba Sefiu Olawale Oyebola Adeyeri III, who praised the smooth organisation of the event and welcomed the corps members to the community.
With the ceremony concluded, the 2025 Batch C corps members commence their orientation programme in Oyo State, motivated to serve with diligence and purpose.
