Makinde to NYSC Members: Your Conduct Reflects Your Commitment to Nation-Building

Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has charged members of the 2025 Batch B Stream 1 of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to the state to uphold values of integrity, hard work, and cultural tolerance, stressing that their conduct during the service year will reflect their dedication to nation-building.

The governor gave the charge at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ogbakuta, Iseyin, while officially declaring the orientation course open during the swearing-in ceremon

Represented by the Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Hon. Wasilat Adegoke, Makinde welcomed the corps members to the Pacesetter State, assuring them of the government’s unwavering commitment to their safety, welfare, and development throughout their service year.

“You are partners in progress,” he said, urging the corps members to act as agents of development in their various places of primary assignment. “As you take the Oath of Allegiance, remember this is a call to serve your country with loyalty and leave behind a legacy of unity and progress.”

He added that the orientation programme is designed to shape their character, instill discipline, and prepare them for national service and life after NYSC.

Makinde also revealed that he had directed all relevant agencies and stakeholders to prioritize the concerns of corps members and ensure adequate security across the state.

Earlier in his welcome remarks, the Oyo State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Kayode Ola Peters, expressed appreciation to Governor Makinde for his consistent support to the scheme, noting that his administration’s interventions have greatly enhanced the welfare of corps members in the state.

He urged the corps members to actively participate in all camp activities, describing them as vital to their personal growth, leadership skills, and future self-reliance.

The event featured the formal administration of the oath of allegiance on the corps members and a tug-of-war demonstration by members of the Man O’ War.
