Nigerian Author and Professor Kole Omotoso is Dead 

Prominent Nigerian author and professor Kole Omotoso has died at the age of 80.

News reports that he died in South Africa after being sick for a while.

Mr. Omotoso was born in 1943 in Lagos, Nigeria.

He studied English at the University of Ibadan and then went on to earn a Ph.D. in African literature from the University of Leeds in England.

He taught at several universities in Nigeria and South Africa, including the University of Ibadan, the University of Ife, and the University of Cape Town. He was also a visiting professor at several universities in the United States and Europe.

Mr. Omotoso was a prolific writer, and his works have been translated into several languages. He wrote novels, short stories, plays, and essays. His most famous works include The Edifice, The Combat, and The Imprisonment of Obatala.
