NO PROTEST IN DELTA, ELECTION CP TELLS RESIDENTS

The Election Commissioner of Police in Delta State Command, John Babangida, has advised members of the public to ignore some video clips being circulated on various social media platforms about an ongoing protest in Delta State, particularly in Warri and Asaba, saying that they are false and misleading.

In a statement by the command’s spokesman, DSP Bright Edafe, on Tuesday, February 28, on behalf of the police commissioner, members of the public were also enjoined to desist from circulating such old video clips.

Saying that the Command is aware of the video clips, the PPRO stated that they are being circulated with the intent of creating panic in the state, which had been generally peaceful since the commencement of the 2023 general elections.

“Investigation has further revealed that the video clip is suspected to be an old video and, as such, should be completely disregarded.

“The state is currently peaceful and calm, and the Command will do all within its powers to see that it remains so,” the spokesman said.

Edafe gave control room numbers as 08036684974, 08125958005 and 09053872287 for residents to call in case of any emergency.
