The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has congratulated the wife of a former Governor of Oyo State, Florence Ajimobi, Mrs Florence Ajimobi on her appointment as Nigeria’s Ambassador to Austria by President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman Mr. Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the union described the appointment as well-deserved, noting that Mrs. Ajimobi possesses the experience, leadership capacity and global exposure required to represent Nigeria effectively.

The NUJ Oyo State Council stated that the appointment was not only a recognition of Mrs. Ajimobi’s years of service and contributions to national development but also a moment of pride for the people of Oyo State.

The council expressed confidence that she would bring dignity and excellence to the diplomatic assignment, adding that Mrs. Ajimobi has, over the years, demonstrated commitment to humanitarian causes, women empowerment and community development, attributes which would further strengthen Nigeria’s diplomatic engagements in Europe.

The council also commended President Tinubu for finding Mrs. Ajimobi worthy of the strategic role, describing the decision as one that reflects merit, competence, and dedication to national service.

It added that her appointment serves as an inspiration to women across the country, particularly in Oyo State, encouraging them to aspire to leadership and international service.

Oyo NUJ noted that with her wealth of experience in public service and social advocacy, Mrs. Ajimobi is well positioned to promote Nigeria’s interests and strengthen bilateral relations between Nigeria and Austria.
