The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has congratulated its former Vice President Zone B, Mogaji Cosmas Olalekan Oni, on his installation as the Mogaji of Oni-Esu Dynasty by the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja.
The Council described the installation as a well-deserved recognition of Mogaji Oni’s years of dedicated service to humanity, the journalism profession, and the development of Ibadanland. It noted that the honour reflected his integrity, exemplary leadership, and enduring contributions to society.
In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Mr. Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the NUJ Oyo State said the installation of one of its distinguished members into the traditional chieftaincy institution is a source of pride to journalists across Oyo State and beyond.
The statement noted that Mogaji Oni’s elevation demonstrates that journalists, through hard work, professionalism, and selfless service, can attain enviable positions of honour within the traditional institution and society at large. It added that the recognition would serve as an inspiration to media practitioners to remain committed to excellence and ethical journalism.
The Council also commended the Olubadan of Ibadanland, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, for what it described as a merit-based choice in appointing a seasoned journalist as the Mogaji of the Oni-Esu Dynasty. It said the monarch’s decision underscores his appreciation for individuals who have made significant contributions to community development and nation-building.
The Council prayed that Almighty God grant Mogaji Cosmas Oni good health, wisdom, and divine guidance as he assumes the responsibilities of his new traditional office, expressing confidence that he would continue to promote peace, unity, and the development of the Oni-Esu Dynasty and Ibadanland in general.
