The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has congratulated its Patron, Otunba Salimon Akanni Oladiti, on his emergence as the National President of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG).

The Council described his election as a well-deserved recognition of his years of dedication, leadership, and commitment to the advancement of workers’ welfare in the petroleum sector.

In a congratulatory statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the Council, Mr. Akeem Abas, and the Secretary, Temidayo Adu, the Union noted that Otunba Oladiti’s emergence did not come as a surprise, given his track record of excellence and unwavering service within the labour movement.

The statement highlights that Oladiti, a former National Chairman of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) branch of NUPENG, has consistently demonstrated strong leadership qualities, advocating for the rights and welfare of members while promoting stability and professionalism in the industry.

Oyo NUJ further acknowledged his successful election at the 6th Quadrennial Delegates Conference of NUPENG held in Lagos in April 2026, describing the process as a testament to the confidence reposed in him by members of the union nationwide.

While praising his achievements, the Council also commended his contributions as a patron and benefactor of the Oyo NUJ, noting that his support over the years has positively impacted the growth and development of the Union and its members.

The Union expressed confidence that Otunba Oladiti would bring his wealth of experience to bear in his new role and wished him a successful tenure as NUPENG President, urging him to continue to uphold the ideals of fairness, unity, and progress in the labour movement.
