Oyo NUJ Mourns Rep Akinremi, says “he was a philanthropist of note”

The Oyo State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Adewale Akinremi, a member of the House of Representatives representing Ibadan North Federal Constituency.

In a statement signed by the NUJ Chairman, Comrade Ademola Babalola and made available to reporters by the union’s Secretary, Sola Oladapo, the NUJ described Rep Akinremi as a philanthropist of note who touched many lives during his lifetime.

“The Oyo NUJ is deeply saddened by the sudden demise of Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Adewale Akinremi. He was a friend of the media and a champion of the people. His contributions to the development of Ibadan North, Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole will never be forgotten,” the statement read.

According to the union, Rep Akinremi was a strong supporter of journalism and always identified with the struggles of journalists in the state.

He was known for his generosity and kindness, especially to the less privileged.

The NUJ also extended its condolences to the family of the deceased, the people of Ibadan North Federal Constituency and the entire Nigerian parliament.

Rep Akinremi’s death has left a huge vacuum in the political landscape of Oyo State and he would be deeply missed by all who knew him.
