Primate Elijah Ayodele has restated his long-standing prediction regarding the fate of detained IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, insisting that his matter will ultimately be resolved through negotiation rather than strict legal consequences.
Speaking in a recent video shared on Facebook, the cleric reminded followers that he had consistently maintained that the path to resolving Kanu’s case would rely heavily on dialogue.
“Long before now, I said Nnamdi Kanu’s matter will end in negotiation. Everything that has happened so far is about negotiation,” he said, stressing that the outcome would not depend solely on courtroom proceedings or punitive measures.
Addressing concerns about the possibility of a life sentence, Ayodele dismissed the suggestion, describing it as unrealistic.
“He will not face life imprisonment. The life imprisonment is just a word of law; it’s not possible,” he stated.
According to him, while legal provisions may indicate severe penalties, political dynamics, ongoing discussions and eventual compromises will ultimately shape the final decision.
Ayodele also urged supporters advocating for Kanu’s release to remain steadfast, emphasising that meaningful progress will require continued pressure and commitment
