Rotary Club holds annual free health screening for Oyo residents

An annual free health services tagged, Rotary Family Health Days, being organised by Rotary Action Group known as Rotarians for Family Health and AIDS prevention (RFHA) of Rotary International has been held.

The program was endorsed by Oyo state Ministry of Health and the State’s Primary Health Care Board,also in collaboration with the Planned Parenthood & Family Planning (PPFN) which provided services for Breast & Cervical cancer Awareness and screening.

This year’s event took place between October 24 and 26, 2023 in various communities in Ibadan OdoOna Elewe PHC in Oluyole LGA, Oniyanrin PHC & Eleyele PHC in Ibadan North West LGA and Awaye PHC in Egbeda LGA s of Oyo State and beyond.

The some Rotary Club in Oyo State screened not less than 3000 residents at various sites in the metropolis.

The free services rendered by Rotarians with professional medical support from health personnel of the Oyo State Health Management

Board and AIDS Prevention in Nigeria (APIN) include HIV Testing and counselling.

Diabetes Screening, Hypertension Screening and Treatment, Family counselling and Health Talk to students in schools.

Also, free distribution of sanitary towels for Girls, Insecticides Treated Nets, Condoms for both male and female took place at the various sites.

A centre was dedicated for Cervical Cancer Screening for women. 

The 3-day event featured mount booths and setting up of camps in various locations to test, screen and examine members of the public, which addressed the critical issues of HIV, Polio & other diseases.
