In the final hours leading up to the Osun State governorship election, Isaac Fayose—brother of former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose—has raised a sharp alarm over a reported influx of political thugs into the state, warning that the situation signals a dangerous precedent for the 2027 general elections.
Tension has reached a fever pitch across Osun State amid widespread allegations of intimidation and targeted political violence calculated to disrupt tomorrow’s polls.
Reacting to the volatile security atmosphere, Fayose criticized the ruling party’s approach, claiming that armed elements have been deployed to bypass the democratic will of the electorate.
“I hope you all are seeing APC’s desperation in Osun. They have flooded the state with all kinds of thugs. We are in trouble,” Fayose stated in a public reaction. “APC wants to win by force, and so they brought thugs to the state. We are in trouble in 2027. If you think we are okay, we are not. Nigerians, you must arise and take your country back. This is definitely not the country you want.”
Fayose’s comments mirror earlier concerns raised by Afrobeat superstar David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido. The music icon recently circulated video footage across social media showing the law enforcement interception and arrest of armed individuals allegedly linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state.
The heavy allegations come despite assurances from the Nigeria Police Force that thousands of security personnel have been deployed across all 3,673 polling units to maintain total law and order during the election.
