Nurse Slumps, Dies On Duty In Zamfara

A nurse in the Ahmed Sani Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital in Zamfara State, Asma’u Lawali Bungudu, had been certified dead after slumping while discharging her duty.

Tribune reported that the nurse was hale and hearty when she arrived at the hospital for work early on Wednesday but was confirmed dead a few hours after she resumed duty.

The hospital spokesman, Auwal Usman, confirmed the incident, pointing out that Asma’u was at her duty post and had checked the blood pressure of about 30 patients before she complained about a cardiac issue to a doctor.

Speaking further, the hospital spokesman said that after her complaint, she immediately slumped, and doctors rushed to save her.

“The medical doctors tried all they could to save her life but they couldn’t as she died instantly,” he added.

According to Usman, the management team of the hospital led by the Medical Director, Dr Usman Muhammad Shanawa, has handed over the corpse to the relatives of the deceased.

When contacted, a family member of the late nurse confirmed that Asmau left home hale and hearty on Wednesday morning and went to the hospital where she works as a nurse without any health complaints.

“She was buried today by 5 pm at Malan Abdurrahaman House, Magama Area, Bungudu according to Islamic injunction,” the relative added.
