urges gov to apply lessons learnt during first term
The Oyo Kajola Group (OKG) has congratulated the state governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, on his re-election as governor of Oyo State for another period of four years.
The sociopolitical group also appreciated the people of the state for voting in support of good governance and people-oriented leadership as embodied by the candidature of Governor Makinde.
A statement by the Media Coordinator of the OKG, Comrade Adebayo Ayandele, indicated that the group stated this on Monday, adding that Makinde’s victory was a triumph of good governance and sound reasoning over banal sentiments and falsehood.
According to the group, Oyo State would be the better for the re-election of Makinde, who has been able to deliver excellently in different sectors and has also learnt critical lessons that would shape future decisions.
The Oyo Kajola Group, however, admonished the governor to draw on the lessons he has learnt in the last four years and apply same to make the state greater and better in all ramifications.
The statement read: “We congratulate His Excellency, Governor Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, the standard-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Saturday, March 18, 2023 governorship election, on his return as the governor-elect of Oyo State.
“The governor’s victory was resounding, poignant and refreshing; it was a proof that residents of Oyo State recognise and would always reward hard work and good leadership.
“From the results across the 33 local governments, we saw the resolve of a people with a proud heritage of excellence, people who will not sacrifice sound reasoning for banal sentiments and religious incitement disguised as politicking.
“We in the Oyo Kajola Group appreciate all residents of the state who voted massively to return Governor Makinde and 28 House of Assembly members and we are proud to say that we recognise the resolve to make sure Oyo State never loses its place as pacesetters and trendsetters.
“While congratulating His Excellency, we also encourage him to implement all promises and commitments made to the people of the state in the course of the electioneering.
“We believe that the governor is better equipped to move the state forward and that too at a faster pace, going by the lessons and experiences already gained in the cost of the first tenure.
“We would like to encourage the governor to draw on his experiences and lessons from the first tenure to make better policies and decisions and take actions that will better serve our dear state.”
