Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Sen. Lekan Balogun, CFR, Alli Okunmade II on Monday expressed worries over throat-cutting competition over Mogaji titles within some Ibadan families’ compounds, a development said to causing confusion in his Advisory Council.

Oba Balogun made this remark at the installation of some Mogajis and Baales at the Alarere residence of the monarch. At the occasion were members of the Olubadan Advisory Council comprising Oba Owolabi Olakulehin, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja, Oba Eddy Oyewole, Oba Tajudeen Ajibola and Oba Lateef Gbadamosi Adebimpe-Balogun of Ibadanland, Otun Olubadan, Osi Olubadan, Otun Balogun and Osi Balogun respectively.

Oba Ajibola, who addressed the newly installed Mogajis and Baales on behalf of Oba Balogun according to the press statement made available to journalists by the Personal Assistant (Media) to Olubadan, Oladele Ogunsola said the reports coming to the Council on the level of desperation of some aspiring Mogajis were very disturbing.

He urged the aspirants to take things easy and stop giving the Council difficult task to undertake, noting that “it is unheard of that two siblings would be appointed Mogaji of the same family compound”, adding “it is highest degree of desperation for anybody to conceive such an abnormality”.

The monarch counseled that “the moment a decision is made and somebody is appointed a Mogaji of a family compound, other aspirants from such a compound must perish the ambition and think of something else. One only gets what is destined by his creator to get”.

Oba Ajibola prayed for the new Mogajis and Baales to have peaceful and purposeful reign just as he reminded them of the palace admonition to the community leaders on the need to ensure security and good neighborliness among their subjects.
