Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members serving in the state to become change agents in their respective service communities.
Speaking during the closing ceremony of the 2024 Batch A Stream 2 orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Iseyin, Makinde, who was represented by the state commissioner for Youth and Sports Development, Miss Wosilat Adegoke, emphasised the importance of young graduates serving as role models for the younger generation.
Encouraging the corps members to join the government’s efforts in combating corruption, Governor Makinde called upon them to utilise their expertise to alleviate poverty and economic hardships within the country.
Earlier, NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Odoba Abel Oche, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the significance of upholding the training received during the orientation period and pursuing self-reliance through skill development.
Mr. Oche also stressed the need for corps members to respect the traditions and culture of their host communities and advocated for the provision of corps lodges in all thirty local government areas to address accommodation challenges faced by corps members serving in the state.
