Global Surveyors Day; Practice Ethically Oyo Surveyor-General Charges Practitioners

The Surveyor General of Oyo State, Surveyor Olusoji Adeyemi Adeoye has advised members of the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Oyo State Branch to Practice Ethically while performing their duties.

He stated this during the sensitization programme to mark the 2025 “Global Surveyors Day’ with the theme “Shaping the new World on the Wisdom of Surveying” held at the premises of the office of the Oyo State Surveyor General. Secretariat, Ibadan where members of the Institution celebrating the day with fun-fair visited the Surveyor General alongside the Honourable Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development in his office.

He said “Global Surveyors Day is being celebrated all over the world, Nigeria and Oyo State is not exempted, it is a day set aside to show case what surveyors can do in terms of Geo spatial information required for infrastructural development.

He added further that the Nigerian Institution of Surveyors alongside the office of the Surveyor General is working to ensure quality service delivery among the surveyor in the State.

In his remarks, the Chairman Nigerian Institution of Surveyors, Oyo State Branch, Surveyor Waheed Abiodun Lamidi opined that the Global Surveyors Day is being celebrated in Iseyin , Oyo, Ogbomoso and Ibarapa area of the state to sensitize the general public on the importance of surveying and mapping.

Surveyor Lamidi commended Gov. Seyi Makinde for the appointment of substantive Surveyor General in person of Surveyor Adeoye that, since he was appointed things are improving in Surveyors Circle.

“We are the first professional body to appreciate Governor Seyi Makinde for the recruitment of fresh graduates to the office of the Surveyor General, it is highly commendable and an added advantage to our profession”.
