Banky W Finally Responds to DJ Obi’s Offensive Comment About His Political Ambition

Nigerian singer, actor, and politician, Banky W is a multi-talented man with a lot of ambitions. When earlier this year, Banky W joined the PDP and made known his intentions to run for a position in the house of representatives, a DJ by the name of DJ Obi came for him on social media writing about Banky:

“Anywhere breeze blow you dey there. Today pastor, tomorrow artist, next tomorrow politician. Next week deliverance ministry, next month new single on the way. ABEG! We need real politicians. This is not a popularity contest. We are serious about our country, Nigeria is on the verge of getting on the path of greatness, we need solid men that are willing to loose it all for this nation to work and work well. The work ahead is not for the weak hearts……No, be now I go talk #endsars.”

During an interview with Chude, Banky W was asked about the things DJ Obi said in his Instagram rant. Here’s how Banky responded.

He Speak in response to the things DJ Obi said in his Instagram rant, Banky W said:

In the last elections when we were in the collation centers, there was a guy there who was one of the lieutenants of the people that won and he was like “Banky W, stay in entertainment, stay in all those things wey you dey do, leave politics for politicians.” I think that is part of the problems with Nigeria is we’ve left politics for politicians. We’ve left politics for people who this is what they do. They’ve never had to build a business, they’ve never had to struggle with the policies that are in place that fight against the businesses that you’re working on, they’ve never been in that place. Now I’ve built businesses in music, in film, in food, in advertising so I have first-hand understanding of what it’s like to be a small business owner. I have firsthand experience of what it’s like to be an employer of labor. I have firsthand experience of what it’s like to be a stepping stone to help people get to a better level than they were before they met you. Is that not what we want of our politicians? People who understand that leadership is about service. It’s about being a stepping stone. Not being somebody that walks over people. I believe that God has given me the grace to do everything that I’m doing and thankfully, so far the testimony is I’ve done it well. So I feel like you judge a man by his character and by the results that he has achieved. I believe that I am a builder. God made me a builder, he uses me to build things. When he put me in the music business, there are artistes, producers, DJs, music executives that He used me to build and today they’re doing better after working with me than they were before they met me. God uses me to build things and I think that if given the opportunity, He will use me to build things even in our government, even in our political space. And whether I will ever get that opportunity or not, it’s okay. If I don’t, I’ll continue to build wherever he gives me an open door.
