Makinde, wife cast votes in Ibadan
…democracy has come to stay in Nigeria, says gov

Oyo State Governor ‘Seyi Makinde and his wife, Tamunominini, on Saturday, joined millions of Nigerians voters to cast their ballots at the ongoing presidential and National Assembly elections.


While the governor voted at Ward 11, Unit 01, Abayomi Iwo-road in Ibadan North East Local Government, his wife, Tamunominini, voted at Unit 08 Army, Barracks, Iwo Road, also in Ibadan North East Local Government of the state.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that
Governor Makinde arrived at the voting point at 10:08 am,and cast his vote at about 10:15 am.
He had earlier been verified and accredited with the BVAS machine.


Speaking to the media after casting his ballot, the governor appreciated the people of Oyo State for coming out in good number to exercise their civic rights.

He said that the process went smoothly while he voted.

He also described the voting process as “speedy and efficient,” while commending the electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission ( INEC) for the improvements noticed in the process. According to him, the accreditation process was okay, and the people conducted themselves very well.

He urged those who were yet to cast their votes to be patient, adding that the process was going on seamlessly.
The governor said : “I appreciate the people of Oyo State for exercising their rights. The process is going fine so far, so good. “The accreditation process is okay, and the people are conducting themselves very well.
“So, I think democracy has come to stay in Nigeria.

“But I want to urge those who still want to cast their votes to be patient as the process is ongoing and seamless. They should exercise the civic responsibilies.”
