Alaafin, Ooni Meet Ex-Osun Governor, Aregbesola Move To Reconcile Rift With Tinubu.

The Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi and Ooni of Ile-Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi have met with the immediate past governor of Osun State, Rauf Aregbesola.

The meeting of the two prominent traditional rulers in Yoruba land took place in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital on Tuesday.

We gathered from sources that the meeting which was held at the instance of the two prominent traditional rulers was organised in order to reconcile the rift between Aregbesola and his former boss, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

If you recalls that Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State and Aregbesola, who served as commissioner under Tinubu, had been having a running battle over who would secure the gubernatorial ticket of APC in forthcoming election in Osun State.

Tinubu, who has also declared his interest to contest 2023 presidential election, preferred the incumbent governor of Osun State, Gboyega Oyetola, while Aregbesola decided to back former Secretary to the State Government, Mashod Adeoti.

The differences between the two politicians resulted in accusations and counter accusations the two former political associates a few weeks ago.

We gathered that the two prominent traditional rulers have decided to broker peace between the two APC chieftains.

Report gathered that the meeting was held under closed door and details of the meeting are sketchy as at the time of filing this report.

But, sources who are close to the venue of the meeting said the the meeting was held in order to resolve the crisis between Aregbesola and Tinubu.

Sola Fasure, who is the media aide to Aregbesola, confirmed that the meeting took place on Tuesday.

He said, “It is true, he had a private meeting with them. I won’t speculate on the content of their meeting”.
