Cholera Outbreak: Alli charges Nigerians to be vigilant, imbibe good hygiene practices

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has called on Nigerians to be vigilant and imbibe good hygiene practices to prevent further spread of cholera and protect the health of the communities.

This is contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Ibadan.

Alli expressed deep concern for the lives affected by the outbreak, calling for swift intervention to address the crisis.

“Cholera, a severe and potentially deadly disease, has affected many lives in the country.

“This situation requires immediate attention and action from all to prevent further spread and safeguard the health of our communities,”he said.

The lawmaker emphasised the importance of preventive measures such as drinking clean water, practicing good hygiene and ensuring proper food preparation to mitigate the risk of cholera transmission.

He called for vigilance among residents, while encouraging prompt reporting of suspected cholera cases to health facilities for early detection and treatment.

Alli also called on the government as well as relevant agencies to intensify efforts in providing clean water and improving sanitation facilities in the communities.

The lawmaker stressed the critical role of access to clean water and sanitation in disease prevention.

He reiterated his commitment to advocating for these improvements at both state and national levels, calling for unity in the fight against the cholera outbreak for the well-being of all.
