Eid-el-Fitr: Let’s Imbibe Lessons Of Ramadan-Senator Balogun

Senator Kola Balogun has called on Nigerians, and Islamic faithful in particular, to imbibe the lessons inherent in the just-ended 30-day Ramadan Fasting.

The senator, representing Oyo South Senatorial District, made the call in a message to felicitate with Muslims in the district and Oyo State on the celebration of this year’s Eid-el-Fitr.

Senator Balogun, in a statement by his Media Adviser, Mr Dapo Falade, said the 30-day fasting contained lessons in abstinence, self-denial and endurance, noting that the three should guide the individuals in their daily activities.

He congratulated the Islamic faithful on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration and urged them to adhere to the lessons in their relationship with their fellow human beings and their thoughts about the country.

“Today is Eid-el-Fitr, the celebration of the end of the Ramadan Fasting. I want to congratulate the Muslim faithful in Oyo South Senatorial District and across the state.

“As we are celebrating, we should reflect deeply on the lessons inherent in the just-ended 30-day Ramadan Fasting and act upon them in the course of our daily lives.

“As we all know very well, fasting, according to Islamic injunction, is a period when we deny ourselves of some certain things we are used to. It is a period of abstinence and endurance.

“I will urge, not only our Muslim faithful, but also everybody, to look into these lessons and act upon them in our dealings with our fellow humans and our thoughts about the country.

“We should always seek to promote love and peace among ourselves at all times. These are what the great prophet, Muhammed (SAW), expected of us all. These are also contained in the Biblical injunctions.

“We should continually seek to pray for peace in our land. We should use the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration to think more about how we can join hands together to ensure growth and development.

“Once again, I and my wife, Mrs Gbonjubola Kola-Balogun, rejoice with Muslim faithful in Oyo South Senatorial District and Oyo State on the occasion of the Eid-el-Fitr celebration.

“May the Almighty Allah continue to be with us, bless us, guide us and grant us good health and longevity of life to witness more of the occasion,” Senator Balogun said in the statement.
