Eid-el-Fitr: Oyo NUJ Group Greets Members, Preaches Love, Tolerance

A group in the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Oyo State council, spreading the good works of its Chairman, Ademola Babalola (DEMBAB), “The DEMBAB Volunteers” has felicitated the Muslim Ummah and members of the Union on the completion of this year’s Ramadan fast.

In a statement by its Convener, Lekan Shobo Shobowale, the group urged Muslims not to discard messages of love, perseverance, self-denial, alms-giving and other virtues learned during the holy month of Ramadan.

It urged Muslims to extend love, peace and justice and other spiritual benefits of Ramadan to their neighbours.

“While we congratulate our Muslim members on the successful completion of the Ramadan, we urge them to sustain the spirit of godliness, charity, perseverance and spiritual intercession for our union which were some of the lessons learned during the Holy Month.

“Having observed strictly the injunctions of Almighty Allah through fasting and prayers and by offering Zakat, the lessons learnt during the Holy month should not be lost, rather they should be part of the daily lives of the true Muslim in his dealings with fellow Muslims and people of other faith.”

The group also commended the Chairman, Ademola Babalola for his many hands of fellowship to Oyo NUJ members such as during the commencement of Ramadan and Easter celebration which were unprecedented but documented and appreciated by all members.

“The group observed that since Ademola Babalola-led executives came to power, welfare of members have been given a top notch, a development that culminated in special gifts to members at every festive period namely Christmas; Easter, Eid-el-fitri and Eid-el-kabir for the third year running, among others.

“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitri, it is our hope and prayer that Ramadan’s spiritual lessons and the Holy Prophet’s teachings of piety, love, justice, fairness, equity, peaceful co-existence with others, tolerance, honesty and dedication to duty will remain with us all for the benefit and greater glory of our dear union.

“On behalf of all members of DEMBAB Volunteers, I extend our warmest wishes to our leader and ever performing Chairman Ademola Babalola, members of his executive, our Muslim members and faithful in all the Chapels, 36 State Councils and FCT, Abuja as the world celebrate Eid-el-Fitr.”
