Oyo NUJ Celebrates Adeolu Akande, Hails Exceptional Leadership.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has felicitated with former Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Adeolu Akande, on his 61st birthday, describing him as an outstanding leader, legal luminary, distinguished intellectual and dependable benefactor.

The union, in a statement issued in Ibadan by its Chairman, Akeem Abas and Secretary, Temidayo Adu, praised Prof. Akande for his remarkable contributions to national development, media advancement and democratic growth.

The NUJ described the former NCC Chairman as a rare patriot whose life has remained defined by excellence, courage, integrity and commitment to justice to  societal progress.

According to the union, Prof. Akande has consistently demonstrated uncommon leadership qualities and intellectual depth in both public service and national discourse, earning him admiration across political, academic and professional circles.

The council commended his immense support for journalists and media practitioners, noting that his encouragement, guidance and generousity have positively impacted the journalism profession in Oyo State.

“His inspiring leadership, humility, wisdom and dedication to humanity continue to distinguish him as a statesman of remarkable value and enduring influence,” the statement said.

The NUJ added that Prof. Akande’s tenure as Chairman of the NCC brought innovation, stability and credibility to the telecommunications sector, while his contributions to legal scholarship and public policy remain invaluable.

The union prayed for greater strength, sound health, divine wisdom and more impactful years for the celebrant, expressing confidence that his legacy of service, mentorship and excellence would continue to inspire future generations.
