Sanwo-Olu Celebrates World Food Day In Lagos

The Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu celebrated the World Food Day at the Police College Parade Ground, Ikeja, Lagos, on Monday.

According to the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor on New Media, Jubril Gawat, Sanwo-Olu was the Special Guest of Honour at the Grand Finale of the Year 2023 World Food Day Celebrations themed: “Water is Life, Water is Food, Leave No One Behind.”

In a post on X by Sanwo-Olu, he expressed that his administration’s commitment remains strong to make quality food accessible and affordable for all in Lagos.

He said, “The Food Security Systems in Ketu-Ereyun, Epe, is part of our strategy to bring food closer to consumers and reduce prices. 

“We’re working with farmers across the city to ensure healthy diets for all. As Lagos grows, so does the need for sustainable agriculture. Our Food Logistics Hub will centralize food supply and reduce waste. By next year, this hub will be a game-changer, bringing affordable food to markets across the state. 

“We are inviting all independent paddy rice farmers to work with us. Lagos State needs your support to sustain rice production. We’re ready to work with you to boost paddy rice supply. Let’s grow what we eat and eat what we grow. Let’s use this opportunity to make Lagos self-sufficient in rice production.”
