Senator Alli sympathises with victims of Araromi spare parts market inferno

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has expressed deep sympathy to traders affected by the devastating fire outbreak at the Araromi Spare Parts Market, Agodi-Gate, Ibadan, which destroyed goods and property worth millions of naira.

This is contained in a statement signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, and made available to newsmen on Saturday in Ibadan.

Senator Alli described the incident as a tragic loss, not only to the traders but also to the economic fabric of the state.

He commended the swift response of the Oyo State Fire Service and other emergency responders, while calling on relevant authorities to investigate the root cause of the inferno to prevent future occurrences.

The lawmaker urged the state government and well-meaning individuals to extend support to the affected traders to enable them recover from the heavy losses incurred.

Senator Alli urged traders to take necessary precautions by ensuring proper handling of flammable materials, adherence to fire safety guidelines and regular maintenance of electrical installations within their stalls as well as market environment.

He emphasised the importance of fire extinguishers, accessible emergency exits, and periodic fire safety training to equip traders with essential skills to prevent as well as respond to fire outbreaks effectively.

The lawmaker further appealed to market leaders to enforce strict compliance with safety regulations, while collaborating with relevant government agencies to ensure regular inspections against fire hazards.

While offering his prayers and support to the victims, Senator Alli assured them of his commitment to advocating for measures that would improve fire safety standards in markets across the state.

Senator Alli reiterated his commitment to supporting policies and initiatives aimed at safeguarding lives and property in markets across Oyo State.
