BREAKING: CBN Retains Interest Rate at 27.5% in Second MPC Meeting of 2025

The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) has maintained the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) at 27.5% for the second time this year.

CBN Governor, Olayemi Cardoso, announced the decision on Tuesday during a press briefing following the 300th meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) held in Abuja.

“The Committee was unanimous in its agreement to hold all parameters,” Cardoso stated, signaling a continued tightening stance amid prevailing economic conditions.

The retention of the benchmark rate comes amid ongoing efforts to manage inflation and stabilize the naira.
