The Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Yenagoa today, December 11, after reportedly collapsing in his office.
According to Vanguard, the incident occurred around 1:30 p.m., triggering a swift emergency response from his aides and medical personnel. Witnesses said the deputy governor appeared to be in serious condition as he was transported to the hospital’s emergency unit.
He has since been stabilized and moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), where he is receiving further medical attention. Although no official statement has been released on the cause of the medical scare, sources suggest it may have been a cardiac-related issue.
A source close to Ewhrudjakpo, who described him as someone with an extremely demanding workload, remarked:
“He’s a workaholic; he should find time to rest.”
