Oyo NUJ Disowns ‘Divine Mandate Movement’, Warns Public Against Dealings

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council, has disassociated itself from a group operating under the name “Divine Mandate Movement,” declaring that it is not recognised by the union.

In a disclaimer issued at NUJ Oyo, the council said its attention had been drawn to the activities of certain individuals allegedly led by Raji Adebayo, who claim to be operating within the NUJ structure in the state.

The council leadership, under its Chairman, Akeem Abas, stated that the group is unknown to the union and does not have its approval or authorisation to operate in any capacity.

According to the statement, the NUJ emphasised that it does not recognise the activities of the so-called Divine Mandate Movement and cautioned members of the public, organisations, and institutions against engaging with the group.

The council warned that any individual or organisation that conducts business or enters into transactions with the group does so at their own risk, stressing that the union would not be held liable for any consequences arising from such dealings.

It added that the disclaimer became necessary to protect the integrity of the union and to set the record straight, urging stakeholders to always verify information and engagements through the appropriate channels of the Oyo State Council
