Portable Breaks Down in Tears at Police Station Amid Ongoing Dispute With Babymama Ashabi

Controversial Nigerian street singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has once again found himself at the centre of public attention following a viral video showing him in distress at a police station.

Earlier reports alleged that the singer was arrested following a complaint by his actress babymama, Ashabi. In an earlier circulating clip, Portable was seen attempting to flee as several individuals restrained him.

In a fresh video now trending on X (formerly Twitter), the singer was captured seated at the police station with handcuffs on, visibly emotional and weeping uncontrollably. In the footage, Portable was heard lamenting and claiming that his mother was ill, drawing mixed reactions from social media users.

The video sparked widespread commentary online, with many users sharing varied opinions about the singer’s conduct and repeated encounters with law enforcement.

The development comes barely a day after Portable publicly accused Ashabi of taking him to court. The singer claimed he was not legally married to her and questioned her decision to pursue legal action. He also accused her of attempting to destabilise his marriage, describing her actions as inappropriate.

As earlier reported, tensions between the duo escalated during the New Year period when they were involved in a heated confrontation. In subsequent Instagram videos, Portable accused Ashabi of attacking his family, alleging that his pregnant wife was assaulted and that firearms were pointed at his children. He further claimed Ashabi’s mother accused him of using charms on her daughter and questioned his failure to buy her a car.

Responding to the allegations, Ashabi narrated her own version of events, claiming that during a New Year visit with her siblings, Portable allegedly pushed and slapped her. She further accused him of brandishing an axe, seizing their phones, assaulting her siblings, and forcing her to seek refuge in his office.

In another post, the actress appealed to critics to stop interfering in her personal life, urging them to allow her space to think and make decisions independently.

Portable and Ashabi’s relationship has been marked by controversy and public disputes over the past two years, particularly following their decision to go public amid the singer’s marriage. Despite several fallouts and reconciliations, it remains unclear whether this latest episode signals a final break between the pair
